Carpet & Rug Shampoo Cleaning

A wool rug and a machine-made polypropylene carpet look similar under furniture and behave nothing alike under water. Fibre first, method second.

How we approach carpet & rug shampoo cleaning.

We identify the fibre and construction before choosing a method: hot-water extraction with a pre-spray and agitation for synthetics and durable wool, and a controlled low-moisture treatment for silk, viscose and hand-knotted pieces where shrinkage or dye migration is a risk. Fringes are cleaned by hand.

Drying happens on site with air movers, and rugs are lifted off the floor so the underlay and the floor beneath do not trap moisture — the usual cause of a musty smell a week after a rug is cleaned.

By carpet and rug type

A rug is not a floor. It is a textile with a value.

Fibre, backing and dye stability decide the method. We identify all three before choosing one, and hand-knotted pieces are handled differently from wall-to-wall broadloom.

Wall-to-wall carpet

Dry-vacuumed thoroughly first, then hot-water extracted in overlapping passes with a final dry-stroke to pull moisture back out. Drying time matters more than cleaning power in a humid month.

Persian and hand-knotted rugs

Low-moisture, pH-neutral, and dye-tested at the fringe before anything else. Natural dyes on hand-knotted work will bleed under alkaline chemistry, and that damage is not reversible.

Oriental and silk-blend rugs

Cleaned by hand with controlled moisture and dried flat. Machine extraction distorts the foundation on a finely knotted piece and the rug will never lie flat again.

Wool carpets and rugs

Wool is alkali-sensitive. Neutral chemistry only, cooler water, and shorter dwell time — the shortcut most companies take here is a strong alkaline pre-spray, and it dulls the fibre permanently.

Synthetic and polypropylene

Tolerates a hotter, more aggressive process and recovers well. This is where deep extraction genuinely earns its cost, because synthetics hold soil in the fibre rather than at the tip.

Shag and high-pile

Raked before and after so the cleaning reaches the base rather than the tips. High pile hides its own soiling — the difference is usually most visible in the extraction tank.

Fringes and edges

Combed and cleaned separately by hand. Fringes are the first thing a guest sees and the first thing a machine damages.

Stain and odour treatment

Pet accidents are treated at the backing, not the surface, because urine passes straight through and the smell returns from underneath every time the room warms up.

Drying and re-protection

Air movers on site until moisture readings come down, then an optional fibre protector on synthetics. A carpet left damp in a closed Dubai apartment will smell within two days.

Questions

Answered plainly.

Yes, with a low-moisture method. If the piece is valuable and heavily soiled we will tell you when off-site washing is the better answer.

Four to six hours for extraction work with our air movers running, less for low-moisture treatments.
