The basic recipe
Pigment for colour and opacity, binder to hold it together and bond it to the surface, carrier to make it spreadable until it evaporates. Ancient paints and modern ones differ in materials, not in structure.

History of the TradeEvery paint is the same three things — pigment, binder and carrier — and almost every advance has been in the second and third.
Pigment for colour and opacity, binder to hold it together and bond it to the surface, carrier to make it spreadable until it evaporates. Ancient paints and modern ones differ in materials, not in structure.
Solvent-borne paints dominated for a long period because they were durable. Water-borne systems improved to the point of matching them for most interior work, with far lower volatile emissions — which matters in a sealed, air-conditioned building.
Exterior paint in the Gulf faces intense ultraviolet exposure, wide surface temperature swings and, near the coast, salt. UV-stable elastomeric and acrylic systems exist specifically for these conditions.
No advance in chemistry has changed the fundamental: paint bonds to what it is applied to. Crack filling, sanding and dust removal decide durability more than the product does.
Everything we do is scoped against the written checklist, priced after an inspection and fixed in writing before any work begins.
Substantially less than in a temperate climate, and the difference is mostly UV exposure and surface temperature.
In a sealed home, yes. Emissions do not disperse the way they would with open windows.
Almost always preparation — painting over dust, damp or a failing previous coat.
An inspection, a written scope and a price that holds. We will also tell you when the job does not need us.
No phone quotes. An inspection, a written list, and a price that does not move on the day. Fill this in and it reaches us complete — no back-and-forth to establish the basics.
